Kim Todd

Hello, my name is Kim Todd, a qualified advanced integrative counsellor working with teenagers (11+), young adults and adults, and the Founder of The Snug.

Being an Integrative Counsellor simply means that I do not focus on one style or philosophy of therapy; I utilise many different styles depending on the specific issue. This enables a fluid ability to adapt to the needs of the clients that I counsel. Whether it is helping with difficult or traumatic issues, or just helping to navigate this ever-changing world, the important thing to remember is that your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Everybody has their own unique reasons for coming to therapy. What one person finds easy, can be a problem for someone else. You may be very clear about your reasons, or you may feel stuck and know you are struggling but may not be quite sure why.

As adults, it can be so easy to keep putting your own needs further down your list of priorities. I believe that therapy is a powerful tool.  My aim, as an integrative therapist, is to work collaboratively with you, adapting my style to your unique needs and to give you the ability to discover your own way forward with greater self-knowledge and self-belief.

My therapy sessions for teenagers are designed to help your child focus on working towards a positive future, developing effective coping methods, while boosting their self-esteem, self-confidence, and resilience. The sessions can help to improve their communications skills, as well as stimulating healthy normal development by giving them the tools to help build appropriate emotional responses and improve their emotional wellbeing.

Teenagers and young adults have so many things to navigate nowadays; the pressure of constant academic assessment, evolving family dynamics, friendship groups, relationships and social media. These increased and sometimes pressured external influences can create feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. It is no surprise therefore that sometimes they need to let it all out, and this is where counselling in a safe non-judgemental environment can really help.

My practise and my approach comes in two parts: my one-to-one counselling in my therapy rooms at Uncommon (at Fulham) or via Zoom, and my Walk & Talk therapy sessions. My previous work with Place2be (the largest NGO provider of school-based counselling in the UK) means I am able to work with secondary school aged children.

With over 15 years experience as a model agent and then as a counsellor, I wanted to create a space at The Snug where I can help as a therapist to bring an innate understanding of the complexity of working within the creative industry for those both in front of and behind the camera. This desire to help comes from a belief that early intervention and the opportunity to talk to someone who understands the creative industry can give you the tools to deal with some of the feelings that go alongside the business.  This is something I feel passionately about.

I am equipped to help tackle difficult issues or disruptive discord in your life in what I hope is an environment that does not feel clinical but is warm and inviting. I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (NCPS) and am fully insured, with a current DBS certification.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, although you will find many common questions covered in FAQs
